4 Concealer Steps: how to cover dark circles
I have the beautiful Chloe with me today to show you how to cover dark circles.
1. Determine The Main Under-Eye Problem
When you’re dealing with the skin under the eyes, you need to determine whether you’re dealing with texture or just excess pigmentation. The skin under your eyes is thinner and more translucent so everything underneath such as veins or sun damage is more visible.
2. Apply Foundation Before Addressing Under-Eye Area
To start out, since I’m using foundation, I am going to apply that first before I address the under-eye area. Concealer is more strategic for me so I don’t start with concealing if there’s a chance I’ll move it out of place. If you’re not applying a foundation, you can go right into concealing.
3. Brighten Under-Eye With Concealer
After her foundation is applied, I’m going to brighten up the under-eye area a bit using a small amount of the PhotoTouch Concealer to the darkest points and blend into where I stopped the foundation so that everything is seamless.
While the concealer knocked out some of the excess pigment, She still has a prominent “tear trough”, extending from the inner corner of her eye diagonally toward her cheekbone, this causes shadowing and makes dark circles more apparent.
4. Use the corrector palette to kick out the remaining darkness.
When you’re correcting, you only want to apply the corrector palette to the areas that need it and nowhere else otherwise you’ll accentuate the lines and be able to see the pigment of the corrector.
I’ll be mixing the yellow and red shades to make an orange or a salmon color to apply to the areas that are physically sunken, such as the tear trough and where it dips down at the eye socket to bring light to that area.
It’s also good to know not to conceal or correct while standing under the direct overhead light. You will most likely try and correct shadows that aren’t really there.
